Here we are at long last; the final part of my Spike/Willow story “Angel of the Morning”. It has been by far the hardest part for me to write, but I’ve managed it at last, and I can close the book and move on to other things. And those of you who don't read WIPs can read this now, if you wish.

4,225 words. Rating – well, this chapter’s probably no more than PG-13, but overall the story goes well into ‘R’ and possibly into the mild end of ‘NC-17’.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my Spike/Willow Season 6 AU “Angel of the Morning”, and so I’m posting this shorter than usual update now rather than incorporate it into the final chapter. I think it works as a stand-alone scene. This is at least ‘R’ for sex. Maybe even NC-17, I’m always a bit hazy about where to draw the line, but the scene is almost enitrely sexual in nature. 1,230 words. I hope it doesn’t suck.

I’ve been nominated for two awards in the Primordial Souls Awards: Best Overall Fanfiction and Best Humor for The Good, The Bad, and Cordelia. Nominations are not anonymous there; thank you, S.

I’m making rapid progress with my Spike/Willow Season 6 AU “Angel of the Morning”. Here’s the second chapter in less than two days. A long-awaited confrontation takes place in this chapter, and I’m rating it ‘R’ for violence. 3,700 words.

Yet another update of 'Angel of the Morning'; Spike/Willow, AU after 'Dead Things'. Still in the hospital for now, but Willow’s getting out soon. 4,600 words. This chapter probably PG-13 or less.

I return to work tomorrow night, and so I won’t be able to keep up this pace up any more. It’ll be back to once every 7 to 10 days or so.

I’m going to see if I can knock off a chapter of ‘Sunnydale Passions’ or ‘Savage Beauty’ before I go back to work. No promises, but I’ll do my best.

I recently carried out a poll related to a revision that I was thinking of making to Chapter 12 of 'Angel of the Morning'. I have indeed made that revision, at least provisionally. Further details behind the cut.

Here’s some more 'Angel of the Morning', Spike/Willow, AU after 'Dead Things'. By now it’s spun a long way from canon, but it’s roughly equivalent to ‘Villains’. Willow’s still in the hospital. 3,550 words.
ETA: a little section that I'd missed out has now been inserted, making this up to 3,600 words.

One thing that I tend to overlook is saying hello to new Friends; sorry, new Friends. However, I do usually take a look at the Journal of anyone who Friends me, and I comment there if there is anything to which I can add anything relevant. In the case of my newest Friend, however, that isn’t possible, because (s)he posts almost entirely in French and my French is rudimentary. It is entirely possible that I’ll never comment there. So, instead, I’ll say ‘welcome, [livejournal.com profile] syderia’.

Here’s another update of my Spike/Willow fic 'Angel of the Morning', AU after 'Dead Things'. Three in quick succession; I can’t promise to keep this pace up, but it’s getting close to the end and I want to finish it soon, and so I’ll try. This chapter is somewhat low on action; Willow is in the hospital and it is written in the first person, and so the lack of action is rather inevitable. I hope that you will all still find it interesting. 3,600 words.

The results are out for Round 7 of the Spuffy Awards and – guess what? ‘Savage Beauty’ was Runner-up for ‘Best Fantasy Fluff’ and ‘Best Fantasy Comedy’. So no surprises there, then.

Here’s the next update of my Spike/Willow fic 'Angel of the Morning', AU after 'Dead Things'. Just a short one this time, to resolve the cliff-hanger at the end of the last chapter. 1,356 words dealing with the immediate aftermath of the Seeing Red rewrite.

Here’s the next update of my Spike/Willow fic 'Angel of the Morning', AU after 'Dead Things'. 4,640 words. This takes us up to the end of Seeing Red.

ETA: I’m reposting this in a revised version incorporating a different ‘real name’ for Spike. Although the poll that I ran gave a result of 4 to 1 in favour of the original version, I can see certain advantages to the change, and I have rewritten the chapter accordingly. I would appreciate feedback on this version, especially from people who have read the original. I have kept a copy of the original version, and I will restore it if reader opinion so demands.

Other news; my mother is here from Australia, and she’ll be staying with me for a week. And I’ve been nominated in the Love’s Bitch Awards as Best Author, and “Savage Beauty” is nominated as Best Comedy.

The verdict is in on my revision of Chapter 11 of 'Angel of the Morning' (HERE) and it seems to be positive. Only one person prefers the original, lots prefer the revised version. Even if the verdict had been the other way around I still wouldn't change my decision. The first, rushed, version painted me into a corner with respect to the next chapter and removed an option that I'd always intended to follow.

That's what happened to 'Life in Shadow'. The characters got away from me and rushed into a resolution that was far too early in the story; fixing it and getting them on track for the next chapter, in which things go badly wrong, has so far proved too difficult a task for me to face. If only I'd had the courage then to rewrite the offending chapter and take the temporary hit then it would have been much easier for me to press on with that story.

Anyway, AotM is still on track and the next chapter should appear a week from now, if the disruption of my mother's visit doesn't screw things up too much.

While I'm on I'll just mention the fic that is perhaps my most popular but has been stalled longer than any other; "I was made for loving you baby". The problem with that one is that, being told from Violet (Buffy)Bott's point of view, certain aspects of Willow are being portrayed wrongly.

Violet was programmed to react in particular ways to particular Scoobies. Her new sentience hasn't completely replaced that programming. When Buffy was resurrected she had to be fitted into the parameters, and Violet dealt with it by using the programmed reactions to Willow to govern her reactions to Buffy. This leaves no room for Willow and the witch is being squeezed out as a result. The growing hostility between the two is by no means all Willow's fault, but Violet is of course unable to recognise this. Portraying this convincingly while remaining in Violet's POV defeated me. I have ideas for how to pull it off in the next chapter, but it is going to be a lot of hard work and there are always more tempting options to pursue in other fics.

Angel of the Morning is nearing its end. That will free me up to concentrate on Savage Beauty, Sunnydale Passions, and my new semi-serious project, the one I'm more excited about than anything since 'The Cloak of Mist' (the best thing that I've ever done, by an enormous margin):

Happy Birthday to Melissa ([livejournal.com profile] appomattoxco)

Everybody give Melissa a great big hand, for she gave up her birthday fic that ye might have two chapters of "Angel of the Morning" in quick succession. Not that I gave her any choice about it, of course. :-)

Yesterday I wrote a chapter of 'Angel of the Morning' in a single day and posted it immediately because of popular demand. As I was writing it I made a snap decision to change it from my original conception and draft. On reflection I have decided that the original version was better, and I've rewritten it and reposted it as it should have been.

The revised chapter is HERE

I'd particularly appreciate comments from people who've already read this chapter to see if they agree that it's an improvement.

In response to popular demand I’ve worked away like crazy all day at my Spike/Willow fic 'Angel of the Morning', AU after 'Dead Things', and I’ve finished the next chapter. Two chapters in two days; must be some sort of record. It’s not a long chapter, only 3,000 words. Entropy through into Seeing Red.

Previous parts here:
Part One / Part Two / Part Three / Part Four / Part Five / Part Six / Part Seven / Part Eight / Part Nine / Part Ten

ETA: Since I first posted this I've made extensive revisions to the last couple of scenes, undoing some last-minute changes that I made as I wrote. This is now in accordance with my original draft and, I hope, an improvement. It's now 3,700 words.

Angel of the Morning Part Eleven )

Here, slightly later than I’d hoped, is Part Ten of my Spike/Willow fic 'Angel of the Morning', AU after 'Dead Things'. This chapter we reach ‘Entropy’. Things fall apart. They fall apart so hard.

Despite being pretty busy with Real Life I've managed to keep up with the writing; first there was Episode Three of 'Sunnydale Passions' on the 16th, and now here is Part Eight of my Spike/Willow fic 'Angel of the Morning'. AU after 'Dead Things'; by now we're up to 'Normal Again'.

The stressful week at work pretty much ruled out any work on “Savage Beauty” or “Sunnydale Passions” recently, but here’s an update to my Spike/Willow fic “Angel of the Morning”. It started off with Willow finding Spike in the alley after the “Dead Things” beating, and things have developed from there. By now we’ve gone past “Hell’s Bells” – the bells weren’t so hellish in this AU – and we’re up to “Normal Again.” There is a lot of conversation in this chapter, more than I would have liked, but the characters just wouldn’t shut up. 7,200 words.

Here’s the next installment of ‘Angel of the Morning’, Spike/Willow, kicking off from ‘Dead Things’ and going AU from there. This chapter’s a little high on the fluff and low on the angst, and the rating might just reach ‘R’. 4,250 words.

Yet another installment of my Willow story ‘Angel of the Morning’, that took off from the premise that Willow found Spike in the alley after the ‘Dead Things’ beating, helped get him home and looked after him, and things developed from there. Smaller than the last part, 2,000 words, but I’m getting it up before I start my 5 nights at work as I have a feeling that the next section is going to be pretty long.

Here is the next installment of my Willow story, kicking off from the premise that Willow found Spike in the alley after the ‘Dead Things’ beating, helped get him home and looked after him, and things developed from there. A more substantial update than the last, 6,600 words. I haven’t a clue about the rating.
