This story is in the ‘Tabula Avatar’ universe and is a sequel to Debt of Blood; it may not make sense if you haven’t read that story. It’s an NCIS/Stargate SG-1/Forgotten Realms crossover. In NCIS continuity this takes place during Season 5 between the episodes ‘Corporal Punishment’ and ‘Tribes’. I had moved Stargate SG-1 continuity by a couple of years, as I stated in ‘Debt of Blood’, and then I’ve moved it another six months because otherwise Jack’s second promotion would have been impossible. This story, therefore, takes place early in Season 9 of SG-1. WIP. Written in answer to reader requests for more about Cierre’s time on Earth.

Summary: The NCIS Major Case Response Team investigate the brutal murder of a Marine and the trail leads them to a Congolese immigrant named Cierre LuaLua. She’s exotic, mysterious, and very dangerous – and she has exceedingly unusual ears. Chapter 1 is 4,200 words, rating 15.

After a delay of a year and a half (sorry, everyone!) here, at long last, is the next chapter of the BtVS/Baldur’s Gate 2 crossover ‘Tabula Avatar’, featuring special guest stars from ‘Angel’. Saturday morning is probably a stupid time to post it but you’ve been waiting long enough. Previous chapters can be found HERE. Rating R; this chapter is 7,750 words.

I really should have been finishing off ‘Debt of Blood’ this week, or the next ‘Tabula Avatar’ chapter – I’ve had requests for both – but that’s not where the inspiration led me. After a brief diversion into a New Testament/Conan crossover called ‘The Good Cimmerian’ (not yet ready for publication) I returned to a story I haven’t touched since May and which has, perhaps, the smallest readership of any of my WIPs (although I like it).

‘A Plague of Serpents’, the world’s first ‘Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir’ fanfic. Set in the ‘Tabula Avatar’ universe rather than the official ‘Forgotten Realms’ game world, and incorporating the changes that Buffy and Co. have made to Faerûn, but otherwise not a crossover (Buffy and Dawn will make a cameo appearance later). Set five years on from ‘Tabula Avatar’, although a long way from where that story takes place, and may contain some slight spoilers. When I started this story I estimated that it would come out at 30,000 words. I’m now at just over 28,000 and not at the half-way point yet. My revised length estimate is 75,000 words. This chapter is 9,300 words, rating R. Previous chapters can be found HERE.

Dave Arneson, co-creator of ‘Dungeons and Dragons’, died on April 7th. In his memory I have returned to the fic that is closer to pure D&D than is ‘Tabula Avatar’; ‘A Plague of Serpents’, the world’s first ‘Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir’ fanfic. Set in the ‘Tabula Avatar’ universe rather than the official ‘Forgotten Realms’ game world, incorporating the changes that Buffy and Co. have made to Faerûn, but otherwise not a crossover. Set five years on from ‘Tabula Avatar’, although a long way from where that story takes place, and may contain some slight spoilers. Previous chapters can be found HERE. This chapter is 9,000 words, rating heading towards R.

Here is the next chapter of the BtVS/Baldur’s Gate 2 crossover ‘Tabula Avatar’; in which Joan the Vampire Slayer has a really bad day. I had hoped to get this up yesterday, so that it was on the ‘Latest’ page at ‘Twisting the Hellmouth’ to publicise TA for the last day of voting in the Cross-Over Awards, but I didn’t make it (due to things like our lights blowing on Thursday) and voting is now closed. Previous chapters can be found HERE. Rating R; this chapter is 6,775 words.

Several of my stories have been nominated at the Twisting the Hellmouth CoA Awards. Voting is quite complex, and in two rounds; after the first round the top 5 in each category go through to the second round. The first round ends on Wednesday 21st at 21.00 (presumably in American time) and so time is almost up. If you’re eligible to vote there, and haven’t already done so, hurry!

‘Tabula Avatar’ has been nominated in the ‘Overall’ category as Best Crossover Series, in the ‘Crossovers’ category as Best Crossover (Games), and in the ‘Story Types’ category as Best Unfinished Crossover (Other). Also in the ‘Story Types’ category Tentacle Sex and the City is up for Most Porn-tastic Fic. I’m nominated as Best Crossover Author in the ‘Overall’ category, and in the ‘Crossovers’ category The Hour of the Troll is nominated as Best Crossover (Literature). [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat, who goes by the name of Curiouslywombat at TtH, is up for 3 awards for ‘Return of the Key’. All votes gratefully received; there are quite a few excellent stories there to vote for, although obviously I’d prefer you to vote for me.

Here is the next chapter of ‘Tabula Avatar’; late because of wallpapering the bathroom, Christmas, and Storm of Zehir. At long last the Randy and Joan versus Bodhi face-off! Previous chapters can be found HERE. Rating R; this chapter is 7,200 words.

Tabula Avatar Chapter Sixty-five )

Here is Chapter Two of the world’s first ‘Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir’ fanfic. Set in the ‘Tabula Avatar’ universe rather than the official game world, incorporating the changes that Buffy and Co. have made to Faerûn, but otherwise not a crossover. Five years on from ‘Tabula Avatar’ and may contain spoilers. I estimated that the story would be 30,000 words long but it looks as if I’m going to be way over that; because I want it to be accessible to readers who have never played the game I’m having to spend time describing characters and settings whereas in a pure fanfic their names suffice. I wrote 6,000 of this chapter’s 7,250 words in 2 days, however, so it will probably be completed fairly quickly if I can keep that pace up. Rating about PG-13 so far although it may climb later. Chapter One was HERE.

A Plague of Serpents: Chapter Two )

I’ve been more or less absent from LiveJournal for probably longer than ever before. I’ve missed too many birthdays to even try to catch up and I’ve posted only one ficlet since mid-November. There are two reasons; decorating the bathroom, which occupied me during the run-up to Christmas, and ‘Storm of Zehir’ (the second expansion for ‘Neverwinter Nights 2’).

‘Storm of Zehir’ is a huge let-down after the previous games. The plot is sketchy, there is much less interaction with characters, and a big part of the game is filled with tedious and repetitive tasks. The few dungeons are far too small and the outdoor encounters are formulaic. Yet its very imperfections have inspired me to write fic, which ‘NWN2’ and ‘Mask of the Betrayer’ never did, after engaging in a lot of discussion on the Bioware/Obsidian boards about certain moral dilemmas within the game.

It's set within the ‘Tabula Avatar’ universe, rather than the canon Forgotten Realms, but five years on from where we are in that story – and it does contain one rather large TA spoiler. Buffy will make a cameo appearance in a later chapter but it’s not really a BtVS crossover - more of a crossover with ‘Stargate SG-1’, in fact, as it's the sequel to ‘Debt of Blood’.

It doesn’t require any knowledge of the ‘Storm of Zehir’ expansion (not that many people have played it, after all, not even [livejournal.com profile] melancthe as far as I know) and anyone who has read ‘Tabula Avatar’ shouldn’t have a problem following this story. The central protagonists are Original Characters (a requirement in the game) but I think that I’ve probably set a new world record for the heroine who is least like a Mary Sue. I’d be interested to hear what you think…

Summary: Shar’s turn away from Evil has upset the cosmic balance and a new dark god is rising to fill the gap. A young priestess is sent on a perilous mission to a nightmarish jungle land where she must face primitive savagery, sophisticated corruption, and the horrors that lie in her own past.
