This is incredibly hard. There are a lot of writers who I think are fantastic. Cutting it down to 3 is cruel. But those are the rules, so here goes.

enigmaticblues for the "Alive" saga and "Cast Me Not Away". Simply exquisite; wonderful explorations of Spike's emotions and examinations of what makes a sentient being truly a person.

missmurchison for "Quick and Bitter, Slow and Sweet" and "A Glorious Morning Have I Seen". QAB,S&S is delectable Spike/Tara, sweet and funny and tender and sometimes heart-wrenching, with wonderful Spike/Dawn friendship. AGMHIS (and its sequels "Present Tense" and "Snippet") is the hottest, funniest, most heart-warming Spike/Joyce.

rahirah for "Necessary Evils" and "Follow the Yellow Brick Road". Barb's universe diverged from BtVS after The Gift and became something far greater than the show itself. NE is an alternate Season 6 that makes far more sense than did the real thing, and it is funnier and sweeter and also more tragic and scary. FTYBR is an amazing take on Spike/Dawn friendship that had me laughing until my pancreas shot out of my nose.

My own writing has been stalled for a couple of days; mainly because I've felt too drained on my return to work after a week off to do more than play with drabbles and memes. Tomorrow I have to get up early as we're having new windows and doors installed, so I can't do my usual all-night writing trick, and I'm not likely to have any peace to write during the day tomorrow. Sorry. However, the "ask any of my characters a question" meme that I included in my last post proved to be a useful exercise; it helped me do some ground work ready for future installments, so not really a waste of time. I'm still open for more questions. But please, no more questions for Paul the Walrus! He doesn't speak English and I'm worried that he'll want to answer by playing "the Star-Spangled Banner" on the xylophone.

Quick and Bitter, Slow and Sweet had me laughing and crying through out the whole story.
There were just so many aspects of it that moved me, the whole Dawn thing was so heart breaking.

Did you even for a moment think that you wouldn't?

Yes, it is fantastic. It really made me feel sorry for Buffy and Xander and Willow, trapped in their own snug little group that had almost become a self-made prison for themselves - but it also made me feel "serves you all right!".

Did you see my post yesterday? I was having trouble believing the sun was going to come up. :)

As you said, finding just three authors is hard, but I've read the list of the already recc'd, which makes my job a tiny bit easier. I will prepare links and such for a post tonight.

Fine. But frankly, that had to be the most intelligent discussion I've had this week.

I also felt sorry for Buffy, she looked so dead inside and it was almost creepy in a sense.
I remember there was this part in the story where she could sense Spike was outside and she was waiting for him and the three voices in his head were telling him how messed up she was.
That bit really got to me.

Paul the Walrus - is that the story in which the key was turned into a walrus instead of into Dawn and said walrus lived in Buffy's back yard? If so, I've read more of your fic than I realized and have enjoyed it all. Obviously, I never remember author names!

I did finally read Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are. The first struck me as harsh and even nasty - and I don't mean that as a criticism at all, I was under the impression that that's what you were aiming at. (And if not, I apologize!) I felt so badly for Dawn and wanted to smack Buffy silly. Come as You Are left me feeling good, even though Angel died. I'd forgotten that Wesley had died in cannon (in school weeknights, so I didn't get to see the last season of Angel at all except for 1 ep) so it was a bit of a shock to be reminded. I like how you left things and am looking forward to the sequel. (And hoping that Dawn's boyfriend is as good as he seems and sticks with her!)

Yes, Paul the Walrus is indeed the Key in my story "I am the Walrus".

You're right, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is harsh, and nasty, and that's exactly what I was aiming at. A life with no restrictions, no boundaries, nothing but fun fun fun, what every teenager thinks they want but when you actually get it it turns out to be Hell. I don't expect anyone to actually enjoy reading it, but it's an important step on the journey through the "Nirvana Trilogy".

I'm looking forward to writing the final instalment. And yes, Dawn's boyfriend Leonardo will be in that one too.
