Once More With Pooh Bear

Willow was having problems with her Winnie the Pooh drabble series. “Spike has to be Tigger,” she mused. “Dawn is Roo. I think Xander for Pooh, ‘cause hey, very little brain. Buffy is Piglet, Giles is Wol, and I guess I could be Kanga. But having problems with Anya, not a lot of talking about orgasms in ‘Now We Are Six’.”

Giles frowned. “Dear Lord, are you still wasting your time on that rubbish? Frankly, I’m finding it all rather depressing.”

“Hmmph!” Willow snorted. “If you’re going to take that attitude you’re not gonna be Wol, you can be Eeyore.”

Yes, Angel is definitely Eeyore, it's obvious what with the Brooding. Willow isn't really Kanga; Joyce would be Kanga if it is pre-The Body, Tara Kanga if later than that.

Ethan is indeed Rabbit. Unless The Master is Rabbit, and Luke, Darla, The Three et al are Rabbit's Friends and Relations. Or perhaps Warren is Rabbit. Yes! Warren has to be Rabbit!

Thank you. Actually I'm not fond of the Disney films of Winnie the Pooh at all; but the original books have a nice line in dry and often surreal humour. Of course I tend to crank that up to 11 when I drabble in the Poohverse.

I think Xander for Pooh, ‘cause hey, very little brain - Ouch! That line's funny, but damn. I miss Winnie the pooh bear, I use to watch that show all the time, both the cartoon (although not the movies) and the creepy puppet version...What exactly is a pooh bear?

Winnie the Pooh was originally called Edward Bear, but was given the name "Winnie" after the city of Winnipeg in Canada, and then in the story "Winnie the Pooh and the bees" he acquires the nickname "Pooh". He ascends a Hunny Tree by balloon, holding on to the string with his paws above his head; bees keep landing on his nose, and he blows - "pooh!" to drive them away, over and over again. The balloon drifts too far from the tree for him to reach it, he is stuck there for ages until Christopher Robin bursts the balloon with his pop-gun, and his arms are so stiff they're stuck like that for ages, during which time the "Pooh" nickname sticks firmly.

Well, that's A. A. Milne's explanation anyway, and as he wrote the books I think he's a pretty reliable source.

It's a bit hard to see Buffy as piglet though, because Piglet is small andmeek, whereas Buffy is small and...not meek.

If Joyce is Kanga, then I can kind of see Tara as Christopher Robin. But I can't think of a good fit for Willow or Anya. To many Buffy/AtSverse to too few Pooh characters, always excepting Rabbit's many friends and relations.
