It's all a blur to me now

I went to the optician today. He is ‘seriously concerned’ over the deterioration in my eyesight since my last test, particularly in my right eye, and I have to go back for a further set of tests.

This evening I went to a performance by Milton Jones. Normally I would have said ‘I went to see Milton Jones perform’ but tonight that wasn’t strictly the case. I’m taking my wife’s and my daughter’s word for it that the blurred figure on the stage, who certainly sounded remarkably like Milton Jones, really was that talented comedian. The tickets were a birthday present from my daughter and it was a very good present. I enjoyed the performance a lot. Milton Jones was extremely funny.

The supporting act, one Hal Cruttenden, …wasn’t. If you ever get the chance to go to see him – don’t take it. Have a tooth extracted instead. You’ll enjoy it a lot more.

Before going to the theatre we ate out, using money given to me as a birthday present by my mother-in-law, at a restaurant in Douglas called Harbour Lights. I had battered cod and chips and the portion was massive. In fact I think I’d seen the cod before – on TV, starring in one of those SyFy Channel original movies, as a genetically-modified monster being hunted by Tiffany and/or Debbie Gibson whilst battling against Crocosaurus and/or MegaPython. I couldn’t eat it all – but I can think myself lucky that it didn’t eat me.

Scary stuff about your eyesight. I hope the further tests don't show any serious or unfixable problems.

My S.O. has had very good result slowing his macular degeneration with the AREDS formular and 20,000 units onf lutein. It's a good combo for general eye health, too.

I'll see what the optician says after he's given me a further examination with eye-drops to widen my pupils.

I am very sorry about your eyes; my mother had a test a few years back which showed quite severe macular degeneration (if that is what is causing it) but then read about some supplements that included high doses of fish oil, and two years later, the degeneration had completely stopped. I do hope that yours can be improved, Speaker.

Can glasses help you?
I'm not a big fan of fish in general. As for the cod, I ate a pate (is that how it's called?) made of it and it was good. ;)

I've worn glasses for 54 years; it's my vision with glasses that is deteriorating by more than seems natural to the optician.

It's pâté. Pate (without the accents) is the top of a human head.

I'm so sorry to hear about your eyes, but at least they're on the case now and hopefully they're get to the root of whats wrong and maybe be able to do something?

Glad you had a decent night out though, despite the other crap comedian\s contribution. *g*

Sending along good vibes for that eye. They can do a lot today with lasers and other treatments.

I hope the eye problems are fixable (or manageable). Fish and chips sound like my husbands ideal portion!

Thank you!

The fish and chips was excellent; although, as I heard a diner at a nearby table say to the waitress, it would have been better if I'd been three people. There was enough to feed three normal people or half an American.

Best of luck with the eye problems. I hope it's something that can be sorted out easily.

Mmm...fish and chips, though maybe not a portion that big.

Very sorry to hear about your eye problem - hopefully you're looking at a reasonably stable change, not a continuing deterioration. There's a LOT that they can do now, so don't get too anxious, it really doesn't help.

I've already been through the anxiety a few years ago when they thought they detected signs of glaucoma - later ruled out, and I passed the glaucoma test this time too.

Sorry to hear about the eyes - I hope they can do something useful about it.

Hoorah for Milton Jones and the giant cod. Rather less hoorah for the eye news. I hope they get to the bottom of the problem and start treatment asap.

Get well (regarding the eyes). Hope that's something a doctor can fix again.
Definitely get back for more test, the sooner the better (I think)

Thank you! The next test will be on 31st October - fitting them in is difficult for me, as a night shift worker, because I can't get time off work to go - because I'm not at work when the appointments would be - but if it's a work day I can't go during times when I need to be asleep.
