Aug. 18th, 2007 08:16 pmI had intended to post the next chapter of ‘Tabula Avatar’ tonight but it’s not ready yet. It should go up tomorrow. Instead here’s some picspam.
I haven’t said a great deal about my talks at the WriterCon UK meet and I won’t do so now;

One of the tricks that I sometimes use when planning a fight scene is to set out miniature wargaming figures to represent the characters so that I can keep track of who is where. I rarely do it these days but it was very handy when I started out. Obviously most people won’t have such figures but almost anything works instead; batteries, salt and pepper and vinegar, Scrabble letters, whatever. But the proper figures do add greatly to the visual appeal and thus to the fun.
And they really are the proper figures. The manufacturer can’t say so openly, because he doesn’t have an official license, but if you read between the lines of the generic descriptions (‘Female Teenage Vampire Hunter with stake and crucifix’, ‘Willowy young witch with books and schoolbag’, ‘Chipped Vampire advancing’, etc) it’s not hard to work out who they are. They’re 28mm high (a fraction over an inch) and come as unpainted metal. Once painted by an expert (e.g. me) they really look rather good.
