I think you get read more in other places than on your own site. For instance, until recently I always read your fics at The Sandlot.
I'm very strict about where I'll allow my fics to be archived. I won't allow "Pandora's Boxer" to be archived anywhere other than my site, for instance.
My chapter titles are often song titles, phrases from songs litter the stories, I quote TV programs and sports results, my oddball style means that some very strange things crop up - all of this means that Google searches for totally unconnected things find my site and for some strange reason the searchers actually visit the site (and thus register as one or more hits) before deciding that I'm not really what they want.
There are links to my site on the Eden Studio BtVS Roleplaying Game official site (they dictated the format of disclaimer I had to use before they'd put up that link) and that pulls in quite a few visitors. I Think I'm the only fic writer who has that particular source of referrals.
And, of course, hits don't equal visitors.
I've had to date 8,730 different visitors, making 16,876 separate visits to the site, and in the process clocking up 106,425 hits and downloading 3.18 Gb of material.
There are 156 pages in my site, so a single fan can clock up a huge number of hits.
And you deserve more exposure, and I'll add a link to your site (and keswindhover's) to my links page on the site, and on the lj sidebar next time I'm tweaking the customisations.
