My mom and my dad used to have a very effective strategy for gaming. They would go to the local Indian casino. My dad had a hundred dollars, my mom had a book. Every half hour she would come to the table where my father was playing cards, take whatever he had over his stake and go back to her book. Eventually my dad would either get tired of the game or lose the stake.

Either way they rarely, if ever, lost money.
