With regards to something someone else said about the computers at the Hyperion, don't forget that Illyria can access Fred's memories, and Fred knew exactly what the computers at the Hyperion could do, probably better than anyone else. I'd agree that most of the stuff they had was perfectly adequate for older games, but maybe Fred had a fondness for high-res rendered graphics and surround sound, or wanted lots of PC games - AI seemed to be more of a Mac shop.
