Random thoughts of a biblical nature
Aug. 6th, 2004 01:01 amI keep seeing references to "pilates". I don't know what they are, although from context I assume they are some sort of exercise. Exercise by washing your hands?
Possible alternative exercise techniques from the same source. "Samsons" - exercise by pushing over the pillars of a temple, or by slaying Philistines with the jawbone of an ass. "Joshuas" - exercise by knocking down the walls of Jericho. Some trumpet-playing may be involved. "Jonahs" - exercise by struggling out of the belly of a whale. These days this is against the clock, you have to escape before a Japanese scientific research vessel harpoons the whale to find out the answer to the vital scientific question "how much can we sell this whale-meat for?" "Peters" - exercise by cutting off ears. Other people's ears, that is. Otherwise it would be "van goghs".
