I must admit that it is very cumbersome in some ways. The problem lies, I think, in the fact that the staff are seem to be young computer hacker-type wizards who revel in writing html. Rich text is filled with bugs, and I was recently told that they want to wait until they figure out all the problems with it before they "fix" it. If you're not an html power user (and I am not), you're shit out out luck. I've brought this user-unfriendly problem up to the management on previous occasions and they'd been sensitive in a peripheral way in the past (I told them they were all too young to understand that old fogeys like me neither understand nor care about how cool their "code pushes" are and just want to easily post), but I think their brains actually work better in code and so they don't get it. I've also noted that format changes, icon uploads included, sometimes don't take instantaneous effect. On the other hand, I still like the fact that the fonts are nice and contrasty on the background and therefore easy for my astigmatic eyes to see --- which has become a problem for me with LJ now, even on my main black-on-white page.
You could try submitting a support request. DW used to be Johnny on the Spot getting back to you, but since the great LJ migration (illusory as it was), they've been much slower to respond. Now, they're on par with LJ's support response time, which means I won't bother with asking for help in future so much as bitch about the problem I'm facing.

Ah, well. There is no perfection in this world.
