[livejournal.com profile] quinara's entry in the [livejournal.com profile] watchersdiaries ficathon has been up for several hours now and there's still only one comment; mine. I hope this doesn't mean you're not reading it! Because it is good. Seriously good. Go read.

Propugnatrix Pollia

On a less pleasant topic, I just found out that someone defriended me a few days ago. Not for any particular reason, just someone trimming their F-list who decided that I was expendable. I'm quite upset. I like to think that what I write is usually fairly entertaining and I'm pretty good about using the LJ Cut if I write at any length. Oh well.

Don't feel badly about the de-friending. Folks friend/de-friend for a variety of reasons, not the least of which has to do with the actual folks being friended/de-friended.

I stopped by Watchers' Diaries a while ago, saw the story you've just recced, but decided I'd go back and read it Friday - when I have more time.

feel better.

Thanks. The trouble with this defriending is that it's someone I liked and who I thought liked me.

Same thing happed to me the other day. Only thing that really upet me about it was I had an even 60 friends and now I have 59. That and I actually like the person who defriended me it's nothing I take personal though.

Will read the fic soon. Right now I'm on a fluff hunt because RL sucks dead toads.

I'm not taking it personally; but it makes me feel rather as if I have failed in my aim, that is to make my LiveJournal consistently interesting reading.

And yes, it was someone I like.

Will go read the fic later today, when I have better time. And try not to be sad about the de-friending - the reat of us are still here and won't ever leave you! *hugs*

I see you have read, and commented on, the fic now. Good, innit?

Thank you for the rec. It was short enough that I didn't have to bookmark it for a later date LOL and a very good lunchtime read.

As for the friending thing I just find the attitudes and friending decisions on LJ so random that I barely even worry about it. In the last few months I've had random comments from several people asking if it's okay to friend me - I say sure and warn them that fic posts are infrequent and haven't heard from any of them since LOL. Sorry if it upset you at all though.

Glad you liked [livejournal.com profile] quinara's story.

Re defriending; what upset me was that this was someone trimming her Flist to remove the ones not worth reading - and one of the ones discarded was me. Doesn't do a lot for my sense of self-worth.

I've only ever defriended two people. One because I found the political banners on her posts embarrassing; I rather regret that now, she was perfectly okay in other ways and I should have just gritted my teeth and put up with it until after the election.

The other is a long and painful story that I'm not going to go into.

Maybe the defriend thing was just a time consideration. My list is getting rather frightening, even though I check it every day, and I'm finding less and less time to actually read fic!
But I'm not about to de-friend anyone unless they give me gip!
Was it a woman?
Maybe her significant other demanded she stop talking to blokes on line!

You may have a point there.

My original beta suddenly stopped replying to my e-mails, and stopped replying to my posts in a newsgroup we both frequent, and I couldn't understand why; this was someone so close that we had nicknames for each other that were purely for our private use, no-one elses. Then nothing. I was completely shocked and baffled until [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat suggested that it may have been her husband who put a stop to it. She's probably right; although said husband had absolutely no reason to object, all our conversations had been BtVS fic/Terry Pratchett related and our online personas had a relationship far more like brother and sister than anything involving flirtage.

So yes, that might be the reason in this case. However all the comments we had exchanged had been entirely fic-related, zero flirtage, and I don't recall anything coming up that even specified our genders.

Well, you should feel sorry for your ex-friend if she's had to do this to keep her LJ "priviledges"...You could check her friends' list and see if there's any other males listed. If not, there's your answer.
It took quite a while (a couple of years) before my partner got used to me socialising with even the most blatantly gay men, let alone straight ones.
I'm sure if I'd been your usual female I'd have opted for the quiet life and caved straight away.

It can be hard to tell whether people on LJ are male or female. The names often aren't much of a clue.

Well, when women cut you off, they will very seldom tell you why, as I've often found, to my chagrin.

Don't worry about the defriending. I may not comment very often, but I always find what you have to say interesting.

Thanks for the rec. I'm way behind on my reading at the moment. I'll check it out as soon as I can. :)

Thanks for the recommendation first of all. Really well done.

Second, try not to let the defriending get to you. I have people on my friends list who haven't friended me back at all and a couple I even know in RL.

If it's any consolation, I've thoroughly enjoyed your posts, even if I don't always comment.

One of these days I'm going to start my fic reading marathon. I've got a few sites bookmarked, yours and EB's among them, and I'm going to totally indulge myself in the goodness.

I know it's discouraging to sit and listen to the crickets after you've worked hard on a piece, so I'm sorry I've been a non-reader. The last few months have been exceedingly hectic and I can't wait until next week when we've got our "tax week" behind us. My hubby is self-employed (with three separate businesses) and it's a nightmare getting his stuff together.

I'll feed you. Promise!

Thank you so much! I can't tell you how happy it makes me to be able to put on that leather mini-skirt and heels.

Also, the defriender was obviously insane, so I wouldn't take it to heart - yours has got to be one of the most interesting journals I read.

I've also pimped your story at Better Buffy Fics and the Soulful Spike Society. So you can put on a tiny halter top and a fake fur bolero jacket as well. Possibly fishnets.
