Propugnatrix Pollia
On a less pleasant topic, I just found out that someone defriended me a few days ago. Not for any particular reason, just someone trimming their F-list who decided that I was expendable. I'm quite upset. I like to think that what I write is usually fairly entertaining and I'm pretty good about using the LJ Cut if I write at any length. Oh well.

Date: 2005-02-17 05:31 am (UTC)I stopped by Watchers' Diaries a while ago, saw the story you've just recced, but decided I'd go back and read it Friday - when I have more time.
feel better.

Date: 2005-02-17 05:55 am (UTC)Will read the fic soon. Right now I'm on a fluff hunt because RL sucks dead toads.

Date: 2005-02-17 01:11 pm (UTC)As for the friending thing I just find the attitudes and friending decisions on LJ so random that I barely even worry about it. In the last few months I've had random comments from several people asking if it's okay to friend me - I say sure and warn them that fic posts are infrequent and haven't heard from any of them since LOL. Sorry if it upset you at all though.

Date: 2005-02-17 01:51 pm (UTC)Re defriending; what upset me was that this was someone trimming her Flist to remove the ones not worth reading - and one of the ones discarded was me. Doesn't do a lot for my sense of self-worth.
I've only ever defriended two people. One because I found the political banners on her posts embarrassing; I rather regret that now, she was perfectly okay in other ways and I should have just gritted my teeth and put up with it until after the election.
The other is a long and painful story that I'm not going to go into.

Date: 2005-02-17 01:51 pm (UTC)But I'm not about to de-friend anyone unless they give me gip!
Was it a woman?
Maybe her significant other demanded she stop talking to blokes on line!

Date: 2005-02-17 02:03 pm (UTC)My original beta suddenly stopped replying to my e-mails, and stopped replying to my posts in a newsgroup we both frequent, and I couldn't understand why; this was someone so close that we had nicknames for each other that were purely for our private use, no-one elses. Then nothing. I was completely shocked and baffled until
So yes, that might be the reason in this case. However all the comments we had exchanged had been entirely fic-related, zero flirtage, and I don't recall anything coming up that even specified our genders.

Date: 2005-02-17 03:15 pm (UTC)It took quite a while (a couple of years) before my partner got used to me socialising with even the most blatantly gay men, let alone straight ones.
I'm sure if I'd been your usual female I'd have opted for the quiet life and caved straight away.

Date: 2005-02-17 02:52 pm (UTC)Second, try not to let the defriending get to you. I have people on my friends list who haven't friended me back at all and a couple I even know in RL.
If it's any consolation, I've thoroughly enjoyed your posts, even if I don't always comment.

Date: 2005-02-17 05:42 pm (UTC)I know it's discouraging to sit and listen to the crickets after you've worked hard on a piece, so I'm sorry I've been a non-reader. The last few months have been exceedingly hectic and I can't wait until next week when we've got our "tax week" behind us. My hubby is self-employed (with three separate businesses) and it's a nightmare getting his stuff together.
I'll feed you. Promise!
