I haven't done any writing today at all and it's all down to Fanfic Author Appreciation week.

I've been sidetracked into reading all the great authors who are being recommended.

Sorry.

surely you don't expect to be told, "no, only readers get to enjoy the fruits of writers' labors! back to work!"

i'd add the obligatory whip substitute cracking overhead, but i don't think one can make a sonic boom with cat-5.

Actually since I posted I've blasted off a quick 450 words on "Savage Beauty", but I'm going to have to stop and go to bed now.

Yeah, if free time was still a concept that existed in my world I would be way distracted too.

Free time is incredibly valuable considering that it's free.

Isn't it ironic? If I could find a way to bottle it, I'd be a millionaire.

At least I'm not the only one! I'm learning about so many new and exciting writers. Yay!! :)

The FAAW idea was definitely a good one - apart from punching a massive hole through my writing schedule, that is.

We forgive you.

I've been dipping into the Roxyverse, looking for "Voirrey." Thanks for the rec!

[livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat has just pointed out that the story index in the Roxyverse doesn't say who wrote each story - you have to go to the stories themselves to see the author. I'd better do something about that; and now she has an online persona of her own I'll probably credit her as "Curious Wombat" while I'm at it.

Some of my work is just the series narrative - The Roxy season ran about through Buffy Season 7. 'Whitby in Winter' was the first actual fic - it was my first attempt at vampire porn, and reads fairly well even if you don't know what had been happening to get them to that point! It also reads well enough that out friend [livejournal.com profile] magicwanderer had trouble looking at me without blushing next time we met after he read it (he played James the other Watcher in the game), and the only other person that I know who has read it, [livejournal.com profile] appommatoxco, can no longer look at Winnie the Pooh without blushing!!

It was Whitby I read. *fans self*

I love love love the smut but I am getting shyer and shyer about posting it. I'm thinking about a nom de plume. A couple of the techie boys at work are threatening to find out what I write and where I post. Freaks me out. I'm a poor excuse for a techie person, 'cos I can't tell if their threats are empty or not.

So glad you liked it! Nom de Plumme? You know I always thought ezagaaikwe was one!!!

I have actually been called Ezagaaikwe in RL. It's a joke, playing upon whiteys' secret desire to have Indian names bestowed upon them.

My fear is that I might have sent one of the techies an email as ezagaaikwe at yahoo dot com, and if he were clever, he'd go to www.livejournal.com/users/ and simply append ezagaaikwe. I'd be outed. (Maybe they're not that clever, tho'.)

Not just you. And not just the ones being pimped by friends too.

I find myself going to get links for my recs, and getting dragged back into the classic stories that I loved in the first place.

Me too; and I've also found in a few cases that the authors I'm reccing have written new material since I last checked their sites.

Bad you! But entirely understandable; I haven't done anything except try and make a list and I'm failing miserably. I just can't seem to get my head together enough to write down my author list; I just keep flitting. Aaargh! So - I'm with you, damn Author Appreciation Week.

*slinks off to try list again!*
