Belated happy birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] jamalov29, [livejournal.com profile] sp23, and [livejournal.com profile] treiza. On time happy birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] kantayra and [livejournal.com profile] jadeleopard

I fell down on the way to work on Thursday night. I’d hurt my ankle the day before and as I was walking briskly – not running, I was in plenty of time – for the bus that ankle gave way under me. I went down like a felled tree. I skinned the palms of my hands and one knee, bruised the knee as well, and ruined the knee of the trousers that I was wearing. My favourites, even though I hate the colour; they’re the only really comfortable ones that I own. I think they’re beyond repair.

Perhaps because of the fall I’ve felt somewhat out of sorts during these days off. My intended completion of ‘Life, Resumed’ hasn’t been accomplished although I still have one night to go and it is just possible that I’ll get it done. I’ve been writing away but what I’ve produced just doesn’t seem good enough. In fact I’ve felt rather down about my writing altogether. I haven’t really been able to summon up the enthusiasm.

But now I’ve just seen something that has fired me up again. [livejournal.com profile] mythichistorian has created some delightful artwork for Tabula Avatar and it’s brought the smile back to my face. Find it HERE.

ouch! Feel better soon! don't forget to use ice on your injuries, and to be aware that about 1-3 weeks AFTER the fall, you may experience pain and/or discomfort. A little Ibuprofen is a good thing. :-)

Ouch. That hurts just thinking about it. I must admit, when it happens to me the first thing I usually do is check to see if anyone was watching, even before I check myself for injuries ...

Hope you're healing up nicely and have gotten over the loss of the trousers.

I am more than a bit of a klutz myself. I have been going to Pilates exercise classes for many years, which has improved my balance a lot. I definitely walk carefully and try to avoid tripping. Tripping doesn't automatically mean that I will fall down anymore. My husband doesn't pay too much attention to where his feet are. He trips frequently, but rarely if never falls. Lucky him. One time on the way to work in downtown Manhattan, I stepped into a foot sized hole. I fell hard, which was very bad for the ego. I probably ripped my pantyhose, not that I remember that part, but that was hardly a problem. Too bad about your favorite trousers.

BTW the artwork is beautiful.

I've been toying with a 'Pilates of the Caribbean' story idea for a while now.

Ouch! I hope you heal soon and that you can find another pair of comfy trousers. ::sends all the King's horses and all the King's men::

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I'm glad that even though you're scraped and bruised and ruined your favorite trousers that the fall wasn't more serious. I hope you feel better soon.

The artwork is terrific - I've been across to leave a comment.

Sorry to hear you've been buggering yourself up. And January is a tough month to whip up enthusiasm in. And woe and thrice woe for the decease of the trousers. Patching just doesn't work these days, does it?

Thank you! Nothing can be fixed these days without shipping it to China.

I'm glad I could be of service in some small way. :-)

I'm not surprised you've been feeling out of sorts - a fall like that might not seem to be more than a nusiance/annoyance when it happens, but it's still a shock, and your body will have needed time to get over all that startled adenaline racing round your blood stream. And it's hard to feel creative when you have that 'just out of sorts' feeling that comes with minor aches and pains. Feel better soon!

p.s - would you be okay if I posted the art over at 'Twisting the HellMouth?' Thought I'd better check with you first ...

Of course I'd be okay with it. In fact I'd be delighted.

Yikes. I hope you are getting better physically. Falling like that really does suck.

And as for the writing... you are really good. I think Barb Cummings writing is the best in BtVS fanfic writing, but you are pretty close. :)

Thank you!

Barb is very good, certainly Top 5, but I wouldn't necessarily say that she's better than [livejournal.com profile] shadowscast or Marcus. The best single piece of Buffyverse writing that I've ever come across is 'Home Front' by Pip at 'Tea at the Ford'; it's just a shame that it doesn't seem to be available anywhere more accessible.

Well, tastes differ of course. I find Markus Rowland to be okay, with a good penchant for cross-overs, but Barb simply is in another category ( and so are you ). Can´t say I read the others, so I´ll look up shadowscast writing.

As for Home Front... http://www.teaattheford.net/conversation.php?id=1285

Found it with Yahoo. ^^

Cheers!

Thank you!

The 'not good enough' stuff that I'm referring to is the chapter of 'Life, Resumed' that I'm working on at the moment. At the moment it's not up to the standard of the previous chapters.
