Here is a stupid little drabble in a non-Buffyverse fandom. Probably more for British and Australian readers than Americans. 100 words, of course.
Wayne Manor, Gotham, Nottinghamshire. Bruce Wayne had inherited the mansion after his parents’ murder by muggers. His first attempt to seek revenge as a vigilante had been a dismal failure. The muggers had kicked him savagely in the shins.
“Criminals are cowardly,” he mused. “I need a costume to strike fear into their hearts, symbolise fair play, and protect my legs.”
He was distracted by the television. A six had just been scored in the Test match at the Oval. ‘Cricket,’ Bruce thought. “Fair play, bar the occasional ball-tampering scandal, and they have shin-pads.’
And thus was born… The Batsman.
